Rankings, Lymington open and 4 boat team racing

1st British ranking event of the year.

Well not much to say about the Inlands. Not a single gust of wind onsite over the weekend. Looking at the forecast before hand we weren't expecting much anyway. On both days the race committee sent us out and tried for some racing but unfortunately the wind wasn't strong enough. At least the sun was shining and we all still had fun.

Lymington Open 2019.

Once again lots of waiting around for wind. The sun was boiling, the sea was clear, the tide was flowing and the race committee's Hawaiian shirts were out. Oh yeah and worst part my dad was on the committee boat having to wear a Hawaiian shirt too!! I was so embarrassed. After what felt like hours later they managed to get a race off. Yay! Unfortunately I got caught out by the tide in this race and finished 23rd but still carried on the next races like it was the first. By now the breeze had filled in to about 10knts and they managed to get in another 2 solid races. In these races I finished 12th and 9th which I was happy with. All that you really had to do was nail the start and play the tide up the beat and you'd be flying.
On Sunday it was so much fun. The wind was about 15-20 knts, so super fast. It was such a tiring day. Hiking flat out and completing 5 races. Nailing the tide again was very key and keeping the boat up right and dry. Considering I don't weigh very much I was quite happy with my results. 12th, 19th, 17th, 9th but the last one didn't go too well as my start wasn't the best and got a 24th. Throughout the day my starts were getting better, learning new tricks to help them get better by my amazing coach Haydn ( my brother) so many thanks to him. I finished 14th out of 57 and came 4th girl.

West Kirby random pairs team racing and 4 boat team racing.

Surprise, surprise another day of no racing because of wind. Grr. On Saturday was random pairs team racing at my home club West Kirby. Unfortunately we didn't get any racing in on Saturday as there was too much wind for team racing ( gusting 30knts.) We still made the most of our fun, running around in the wind and rain getting blown over.
On Sunday was the 4 boat team racing. Sunday was a very important day as the winning team got selected to go and represent GBR in the Berlin optimist team racing cup. As there was no random pair team racing on Saturday they decided to do the morning as the random pairs. That was great fun and very stressful too haha. It was all very tense as all the sailors just wanted to get onto the 4 boat team racing to get selected for Berlin.
In the afternoon it was even more tense!! Our team felt very confident as we had a very good team but we were all still very nervous. We all worked so well as a team, after every race we discussed what went well and what we could of done better and treated every race as the same. They fitted in 30 races and we only lost 2 which was incredible. Coming off the water we didn't know whether we had won or not so everyone was still very nervous.
After many smiles and photos later we found out that we won. We were so proud of our team and each other and couldn't wait to represent team GBR in the Berlin Team Racing Cup in October. Well done to my team it was well deserved.

Next weekend it is Summer Squad training in Weymouth and then flying off to Estonia for the Development team on the 26th of June- 3rd of July. #Musto #TheInsideEdge
